November 25, 2015. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has released the latest version of its Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Suite, providing new capabilities and innovations. The latest version, 2.1.1, is available globally, and is intended to offer a more personalized experience for users.
The OpenTouch suite of solutions provides real-time conferencing, presence information, video communications, and social knowledge and applications context to users. With the introduction of version 2.1.1, it now brings in new capabilities, aimed at improving connectivity and productivity.
The OpenTouch Conversation One is a web-based application designed to provide Unified Communications to all of a businesses users. It’s accessed through any device with an Internet connection, allowing access to instant messaging, presence, document sharing, web presentation, directory, and control of the user’s telephones.
Another new capability is the OpenTouch Contactless Call Shift with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology. This allows employees to redirect or move calls between devices without needing to push a button, creating a more seamless transference through NFC.
Additionally, OpenTouch has begun supporting WebRTC with the OpenTouch Conversation Web conferencing client. It extends conferencing to users both inside and outside of the business through the web, allowing people to join audio meetings from any phone or WebRTC browser, without needing to download software or dial-in to a conference bridge.
According to Blair Pleasant, co-founder of UCStrategies, “Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise has been working hard to differentiate itself from other unified communication and collaboration vendors, while enhancing the user experience. Users want to be able to communicate and collaborate easily from any device, and to move back and forth between devices when necessary.” She adds, “The move toward workers using various mobile devices continues to gain momentum, and it’s imperative for UCC vendors to make it easy for users to connect using any device. By providing WebRTC-supported clients, as well capabilities like Contactless Call Shift, ALE can help its users be more productive while mobile.”
